From the LA Business Journal, 12-22-03:

Ralphs' Reach

The last large parcel atop the Grapevine owned by descendents of Oscar Ralphs, co-founder of the eponymous supermarket chain, has been sold to an Orange County-based real estate investor after 105 years of family ownership. Gorman Post Ranch LLC has purchased 2,500 acres in Gorman at the northern tip of Los Angeles County for $2 million. The property is adjacent to Tejon Ranch Co.'s Centennial project near the Golden State (5) Freeway and Highway 138. That proposed community, in the approval process, is earmarked for as many as 23,000 homes.

But the Mountain Communities are about to change radically by a next wave of explosive growth. In the coming 25 years there are plans to build about 50,000 additional homes, thus adding between 100,000 and 150,000 people to the area.
