Consideration and possible authorization to disburse up to $1,000,000 to the Trust for Public Land to acquire the 283 acre Toro Creek Ranch located between Morro Bay and Cayucos, San Luis Obispo County.

Consideration and possible authorization to disburse up to $1,000,000 to the Peninsula Open Space Trust (POST) for acquisition of the 320-acre Gazos Creek Property located near Butano State Park in the Santa Cruz Mountains of San Mateo County for conservation purposes, which will facilitate POST’s acquisition of a conservation easement over the 607-acre Valencia Creek Property in the Santa Cruz Mountains of Santa Cruz County for purposes of conservation and preservation of working timber lands.

WCB 5/2018: CA to Buy North LA County River Campground to Connect parks

About 30,000 Acres of CA Forests and Habitat to Be Saved in May


HIGHLIGHT: The State board will fund the buy-out of a 51 acre KOA campground which is a key connection in the Pacific Crest Trail in LA County, and its acquisition would bridge a gap between two portions of Angeles National Forest. Over twenty-four acres of critical habitat for the federally-listed arroyo toad would be permanently protected in public ownership; along with other federally- and state-listed species.The Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority has tentatively agreed to assume ownership once the property is acquired.

purchase of 36 acres in fee by CADFW with a WCB grant of $61,000


#10, Morongo Basin and Expansion 1, San Bernardino County
A WCB grant of $186,000 to Mojave Desert Land Trust to buy 367 acres in fee


#13, McCloud Soda Springs Working Forest, in Siskiyou County
A WCB grant of $610,000 to the Pacific Forest Trust to buy a 1346 acre forest conservation easement; CalTrans is also contributing money

A WCB grant of $2.44 million to CADFW to buy 5849 acres in fee


#15, Lyme Redwoods Company, Ten Mile River, near Fort Bragg in Mendocino County
WCB grant of $4.48 million to the Nature Conservancy to buy a 23,681 acre forest conservation easement. Also providing funding are CalFire, The State Coastal Conservancy, and the California Natural Resources Agency.
