WCB 5/2018: CA to Buy North LA County River Campground to Connect parks

About 30,000 Acres of CA Forests and Habitat to Be Saved in May


HIGHLIGHT: The State board will fund the buy-out of a 51 acre KOA campground which is a key connection in the Pacific Crest Trail in LA County, and its acquisition would bridge a gap between two portions of Angeles National Forest. Over twenty-four acres of critical habitat for the federally-listed arroyo toad would be permanently protected in public ownership; along with other federally- and state-listed species.The Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority has tentatively agreed to assume ownership once the property is acquired.

Study on how sea level rise will affect future wetland restoration projects: disburse up to $46,949 to the Aquatic Science Center to augment the previously authorized marsh migration studies for the Southern California Wetlands Recovery Project Regional Strategy in Santa Barbara, Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego counties

disburse up to $61,075 to the Smith River Alliance to prepare pre-acquisition studies to protect 22 acres of coastal wetlands and fish and wildlife habitat with a conservation easement on the Goodwin Pond Property, Smith River estuary, Del Norte County.

disburse up to $400,000 to the Land Conservancy of San Luis Obispo County for acquisition of the 45 acre San Luis Obispo Creek Farms in the lower San Luis Obispo Creek watershed.
