More than 2,200 acres of former Concord Naval Weapons Station land in eastern Concord is now in the hands of the East Bay Regional Park District, which plans to make this land the center of a new park.
https://www.cbsnews.com/sanfrancisco/news/concord-hills-east-bay-new-park-navy-base/
Concord Hills Regional Park, which is envisioned to eventually comprise about 2,500 acres, is a major element of a redeveloped weapons station property. Another 2,300 acres will be transferred to the city of Concord, whose Concord Community Reuse Project has been overseeing planning for housing, businesses, a college campus and other development. This has been a years-long planning process and build-out is expected to take many more years.
The inland portion -- south of Highway 4 -- of the weapons station was closed in 2005. Most of the portion of the base north of Highway 4 became Military Ocean Terminal Concord, operated by the U.S. Army.

A new @outsidemagazine article features the League & our plans to open CA's newly named Harold Richardson Redwoods Reserve in 2021. At 730 acres, This forest is 33% larger than the popular Muir Woods National Monument near San Francisco.
https://www.outsideonline.com/adventure-travel/destinations/north-america/harold-richardson-redwoods-reserve-opening/
The 730 acres of old growth that make up this new reserve had been part of the Richardson Ranch ...
In the end, Save the Redwoods paid the family $9.6 million, raised largely through donations, in addition to giving them back 870 acres of coastal land near Stewarts Point that the league had acquired in 2010 from a separate member of the Richardson family. On that property, the league negotiated three easements that will conserve it in perpetuity—with those, the timber business can continue to operate, but with certain restrictions. In addition to the land the family got back, the Richardsons will continue to own and operate their business on the 8,000 acres of surrounding forest.
....Save the Redwoods will manage the park rather than turn it over to a state or federal system. When the reserve opens to the public, it will be the largest redwood park in Sonoma County.
