Settlement of Malibu Parks Campsite Battle Includes a Swap of two Large Parks Between Warring Government Agencies

Camping is to be allowed at Charmlee park further inland, not at coast-front Malibu Bluffs park, in order to settle a lawsuit between the City of Malibu and the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy. The City and SMMC will trade ownership of the two parks as part of the deal. For the last several years these agencies have feuded over the SMMC's plans to make its parks more accessible to active public use, which has aroused worries over brushfire dangers from camping.
