6479 ACRES: disburse up to $2,000,000 to the Western Rivers Conservancy to acquire approximately 2400 acres in Bear Creek and 4,000 acres in the Blue Creek watershed in Humboldt and Del Norte Counties for the purposes of preserving and enhancing fish and wildlife habitat. “The easement is the largest, by far, ever handled by the MRCA,” said Paul Edelman, chief of natural resources and planning for the agency. “The average easement is only about five acres.”
